"St. Patriarch Evtimii" DVD follows closely the conceptual story of their latest album – the epic battle of the last Bulgarian Patriarch in defending the Turnovo city from the Ottoman invasion in 1393 year.

The DVD is made like medieval movie, mixing footage from Epizod's theatrical show at Tzarevetz Castle in Veliko Turnovo city on 09.06.2004 with historical scenes taken from 5 major Bulgarian historical motion picture movies! This made the DVD like unique historical film by itself!

The concert in Turnovo was held exactly on the spot where the described events took place in 14th century – at the reconstructed palace of the old Bulgarian tsars. The live performance was filmed with the participation of a church choir, a folklore dance ensemble, as well as the folk singer Daniela Velichkova, and the virtuoso Rossen Genkov who plays the ancient Bulgarian string instrument rebec.

this is a historical moment for every East European LP collector. You can forget about IMPULSE, AHAT, or TROTYL, forget even about the legendary MILENA - what you see here is probably the rare of the rarest Buglarian power/thrash metal LP gems you can find ever!

It all started at the end of 1989 when Liubomir Malkovski (v,g) and Adrian Ivanov (keyboards) decided to leave ERA due to "personal reasons" :). They quit and formed their own band, called ER MALAK (after the least used letter from Bulgarian alphabet 'in cyrillic', which doesnt even has its own sound - the white symbol shown on the LP cover). ER MALAK started rehearsing vigorously, and by 1990 they already had written enough material for debut album. The album was simply named "I" and released in the end of 1990 by RTM label on tape only. Great power/thrash masterpiece! Then ER MALAK embarged touring and promoting the album. They became hugely successive and popular, playing 200 gigs for the 1991 alone! By the begining of 1992 they had sold about 20,000 tapes (!). At that point the band decided they want to release the album on LP, but for various reasons Kiril Marichkov (the sole person responsible for picking bands for the BG Rock LP series) refused and didnt give them a recording spot!

ER MALAK didnt get discoraged, and instead went ahead and cut a private deal directly with Balkanton's pressing plant - the factory agreed to print 500 LPs, 100 would be given to the band as compensation, and 400 will remain for Balkanton to be sold for their profit. The band agreed and finally in the summer of 1992 the album was pressed in 500 LPs. ER MALAK received their 100 copies, and the rest 400 was distributed to the stores and immediately sold out (I was living in Bulgaria at that time and never managed to see any in the stores!).
The band autographed their copies, and was giving them to selected people and friends.

To make the story short, ER MALAK kept it going until 1996 (released 2nd album in 1994 only on tapes again) and silently dissolved into the void without a trace around 1996... until several months ago when a person came to our forum (Pro-Rock - the premier Bulgarian metal magazine) with vast knowledge for ER MALYK... it turned out this was Adrian Ivanov (keyboards) himself! I immediately asked him for ER MALAK merchandise and he was able to find me some LPs - priceless vinyl pieces of Bulgarian metal history!

DR. DOOLITLE was Bulgarian metal band from the 80es, heavily NWOBHM influenced crunchy power/doom metal in the likes of Dark Quarterer, Witchfinder General, and Pentagram just to name a few.

Side A is rather untypical slow emotional song for their style - reminds me of Stryper's syrupy ballads, while side B tune is in their usual power/doom vein.

This outstanding GEM was manufactured at the famous Balkanton LP factory 1988 in very limited quantities.
Only a handfull of copies were unearthed recently, and when those are sold, they will be gone forever!

TROTYL was Bulgarian power/doom metal band from the late 80es, drawing influences from classic power bands such as Savatage and mixing it with the heaviness of Manilla Road and Dark Quarterer.

This outstanding GEM was manufactured at the famous Balkanton LP factory 1988 with pro-printed picture jackets, strictly limited to 400 copies - some of the copies were sold during band's live performances 1988-1991, and then the band suddenly called it a day fading away and the rest of the remaining copies were put in a cellar and forgotten until recently when I discovered and bought them all :).
